Itinerary

Visit Stonehenge
Embark on a guided tour of Stonehenge, an awe-inspiring testament to prehistoric Britain and experience this famous place in person. The iconic Stone Circle continues to evoke a sense of wonder, and our tour will reveal some of its many mysteries and leave you with a deeper appreciation of this extraordinary place.

Discover the inspiration behind Stonehenge’s construction and hear the latest insights into the Stone Age people who built this monument. At the visitor centre, experience a projected timelapse that puts you ‘inside’ Stonehenge to imagine how it once stood when complete.

Visit Avebury
Lesser known Avebury is the world’s largest Stone Circle and now fringes upon a pretty mediaeval village, which sprung up around it. Wander freely through these giant stones and let your imagination run free. This site has a completely different look and layout to Stonehenge and this private guided Avebury tour has an exclusive feel. Incredibly, this place is still something of a hidden secret from mass tourism.

Visit West Kennet Long Barrow
West Kennet Long Barrow predates both Avebury and Stonehenge and is just another impressive part of this timeless prehistoric landscape. Enter the tomb and explore its 5 chambers that once contained the remains of 50 people!

See Silbury Hill
Silbury Hill is the largest artificial mound in Britain and its purpose still remains unknown. This mysterious chalk mound is roughly the same height and volume as the Egyptian pyramids, built at roughly the same time.

A memorable day! Everyone should experience Avebury & Stonehenge together, and with an experienced guide. Matt’s deep knowledge of these fascinating sites enables him to compare and contrast them in a way that brings them to life. We greatly appreciated the details he shared; he clearly stays up-to-date with ongoing research and findings that have changed scholars’ understanding of Stonehenge in particular. Thanks, Matt!!

Matthias is an amazing guide, who transported us to the Stone Age with eloquence, generosity and wit! We learned so much about English history, spanning way beyond the Stone Age, and had such a great time exploring with Matthias. What a wonderful day!

The Prehistoric Wiltshire tour (Long Barrow, Avebury & Stonehenge) was my 2d tour with Matt & I loved it. Matt is knowledgeable, informative (but definitely not boring) & a genuinely nice guy. Avebury is such a large site but Matt gives you the info you need to understand it (to the extent we can)...and you can touch the stones (unlike Stonehenge). And of course Stonehenge is exactly as advertised. I love touring with Matt & look forward to doing another tour with him in the future.

Our day with Matthias was the highlight of our week in the UK. Not only was Matthias incredibly well versed on the (mysterious and debated ) history of Stonehenge and Avebury;he was full of information on the entire area, history and culture. We had a lovely Sunday Roast at a pub midway through. It was very comfortable to spend time with him and we never lacked for interesting conversation. The car was really nice and our every need was considered. I've already shared his info with several discerning friends and can't recommend him enough. Worth every penny.
