Itinerary
Visit Chepstow Castle
Chepstow Castle is perched dramatically along a limestone cliff above the River Wye. This beautifully preserved stone fortress dates back over 900 years and was home to some of the wealthiest and most powerful men of the Middle Ages.
Stop at Tintern Abbey
Tintern Abbey is situated further along the picturesque Wye Valley. This romantic Gothic masterpiece was ravaged during the Reformation under King Henry VIII. Today, the soaring arches and lancet windows will still take your breath away.
Stop at Trellech
Nearby, the pretty hillside village of Trellech sit’s above a lost medieval city and contains some mystical standing stones. We will stop for lunch at the historic pub.
Visit Raglan Castle
Raglan Castle is a real life Dungeons & Dragons fairytale and is considered the grandest castle ever built by Welshmen. Wander the ruined ramparts and enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.
Visit Caerwent Roman Town OR Caerleon Roman Amphitheatre
Caerwent Roman Town offers a captivating look into Roman Britain. This hidden gem was once a bustling ancient community, including a forum, basilica, and baths. Alternatively, we’ll visit Caerleon Amphitheatre, where thousands of spectators watched gladiatorial combat in Roman Britain and centuries later this arena became interwoven with King Arthur mythology.
